We do not “get old” – as if aging is synonymous with increased aches and pains and disability. We simply stop practicing.

There is about a 2% decrease in athletic performance per year among non-athletes; but less than a 0.5% decrease per year in athletes ages 35-70! Continued involvement is the key – maintaining “deliberate practice.”

It’s more than just staying active (think golf scramble or recreational tennis), intentional and very specific practice of skill development is needed, consistently identifying what could be better and working towards that goal with consistent feedback (ideally from a coach).
